Niah Zavitz shut down Kalamazoo Central, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Niles Vikings JV to a 19-0 victory on Tuesday
Chloe Hargreaves led Niles Vikings JV to victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-3 at the plate. Hargreaves drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the second, a walk in the third, and a double in the fourth.
Niles Vikings JV fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hargreaves doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Niles Vikings JV scored seven runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Hannah Traeger and Grace Wickler, a groundout by Zavitz, an error on a ball put in play by Ashleigh McIntyre, and a double by Hargreaves.
One bright spot for Kalamazoo Central was a single by Rushlau in the first inning.
Zavitz pitched Niles Vikings JV to victory. She lasted four innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking zero.
Niles Vikings JV saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game. Hargreaves, Traeger, Bailey Bickel, Alayna Duis, and Wickler each managed multiple hits for Niles Vikings JV. Bickel, Traeger, and Hargreaves each collected three hits to lead Niles Vikings JV. Niles Vikings JV was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Wickler had the most chances in the field with seven.
Smith led Kalamazoo Central with two hits in two at bats.
