A walk-off left Niles Vikings Varsity on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to Mishawaka on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Mishawaka batting in the bottom of the ninth when Milan Burris singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Jude Abbadessa collected four hits in defeat. Abbadessa singled in the third, doubled in the fifth, singled in the seventh, and singled in the eighth.
In the first inning, Mishawaka got their offense started when Lucas Yone singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Mishawaka tied things up at seven when Burris singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Niles Vikings Varsity notched three runs in the fifth inning. Abbadessa, Cade Vota, and Drew Racht all drove in runs in the frame.
Mishawaka scored three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for Mishawaka came thanks to singles by Maddox Yone and Burris.
Lucas Nowacki was on the pitcher’s mound for Mishawaka. The ace surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out five.
Chase Lotsbaich toed the rubber for Niles Vikings Varsity. The righthander went six and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits, striking out 11 and walking one. Vota threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.
