Niles Vikings Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-8 loss to Allendale at the West Ottawa Invite on Saturday. Allendale scored on a double by #8 in the first inning, a home run by #41 in the first inning, and a error in the second inning.
Despite the loss, Niles Vikings Varsity did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Allendale had 12 hits on the way to victory.
Niles Vikings Varsity got on the board in the first inning when Ethan Alkire’s sac fly scored one run for Niles Vikings Varsity.
Niles Vikings Varsity scored four runs in the seventh inning. Kade Wagley, Chase Lotsbaich, and Trey Knight all drove in runs in the frame.
#33 was on the hill for Allendale. He surrendered two runs on two hits over four innings, striking out three.
Lotsbaich started the game for Niles Vikings Varsity. He surrendered six runs on five hits over two innings, striking out four. Alkire and Knight entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.
Niles Vikings Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Alkire, Drew Gourlay, and Lotsbaich all collected multiple hits for Niles Vikings Varsity. Alkire went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Niles Vikings Varsity in hits.
