Kalamazoo Central captured the lead in the second inning. Crocker drove in one when she singled.
Niles Vikings Varsity took the lead for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Maguire induced Rachel Moore to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Kelsey Barkman singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Taylor Altergott doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Caitlin Daly singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Kalamazoo Central scored three runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Kalamazoo Central came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Zorate and Maguire and a single by Nizzordini.
Mya Syson earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Niles Vikings Varsity. She allowed seven hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out nine.
Maguire took the loss for Kalamazoo Central. She surrendered 11 runs on 13 hits over six innings, striking out four.
Niles Vikings Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Daly had a four bagger in the sixth inning.
Niles Vikings Varsity tallied 13 hits. Barkman, Altergott, Daly, Alexis Rauch, and Brooke Timm all managed multiple hits for Niles Vikings Varsity. Barkman went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Niles Vikings Varsity in hits.
Kalamazoo Central tallied seven hits in the game. Nizzordini and VanDam all had multiple hits for Kalamazoo Central. Kalamazoo Central didn’t commit a single error in the field. Crocker had the most chances in the field with five.
