Game Recap

The Niles Varsity Volleyball Team lost a 5 set heartbreaker in the Class B State Quarterfinal to Lakewood Odessa 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 18-25, and 13-15. My girls played their hearts out tonight surrounded by amazing school spirit. Our families, student section, and community support was absolutely amazing. My girls are a high energy team, and our fans helped add to our energy and drive. We fell short the first set, but we bounced back in the second and third sets and came on strong with our blocks which helped us take them out of their game to control the runs. Our defense did a great job reading their attacks, and our hitters all came out swinging and putting the ball down. During the fourth set, they pulled away from us, and we battled for the points but couldn’t quite close the gap. The fifth set was a back and forth battle, but we fell short by two points. I told my girls to keep their heads held high and to stay focused on all of their amazing accomplishments this season. I love this team and am so incredibly proud. They made history with their families, school, and community cheering them on. The pictures of their District and Regional Championships will forever hang on the wall at Niles High School, and that volleyball banner that hangs in the gym is now filled. What a team, and what a ride. The Vikings finished their season 41-9-4 and ranked 4th in the state in Class B.

Game Recap

The Niles Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Edwardsburg tonight in 5 sets, 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, and 15-8, to capture the Class B Regional Championship. It was a battle point for point, and the momentum shifted constantly, but we were able to refocus and take over in the final set and controlled the runs to finish with a 15-8 win. My girls have literally been bringing every ounce of effort they have on the court day after day. They focus on their goals, and no matter how tough a match gets, they know how to push through, finish, and win. I am beyond proud of their determination and focus, and we are thrilled to be part of the elite 8 and to be heading to Lansing to compete in the Class B State Quarterfinals next Tuesday. Niles is now 41-8-4.

Game Recap

The Niles Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Hamilton in a 3 set sweep 25-13, 25-22, and 25-21 to win the Class B Regional Semifinal. We dominated the first set and really wanted to set the pace for the match. Bella Rasler was on fire and had 14 kills in the first set. We had tough, consistent serving tonight which also helped us keep Hamilton out of system a bit in order to stop them from running their offense as much as possible. We added in some blocks at critical times which helped us stay in control despite a closer score during the last two sets. We know the importance of having a strong practice tomorrow as we move forward to take on Edwardsburg Thursday night in the Regional Championship at 7 at Allegan High School. The Vikings are now 40-8-4.

Game Recap

The Niles Varsity Volleyball Team swept Buchanan tonight in three sets to win the Class B District Championship 25-14, 25-8, and 25-10. Niles came out in set one focused on making a run fast and dominating the match. The Vikings played tough offensively and put a lot of pressure on the Bucks defensively, and once they started their run, there was no looking back. It was an amazing night for my team, and I’m so blessed to coach such an amazing group of girls. They literally leave it all on the court and put their full effort into every aspect of the game day after day. They bring it hard at practice in order to continuously improve, and that level of focus shows up each match. Niles is now 39-8-4 and will travel to Allegan Tuesday where they will face off with Hamilton in the Regional Semifinal.

Game Recap

The Niles Varsity Volleyball swept Coloma in 3 sets tonight to win the second round of Class B Districts 25-17, 25-20, and 25-15. Niles came out swinging offensively and took control early to take a lead and control the runs in the first set. During the second set, we had another lead, made a few errors, and Coloma closed the margin, but Niles was able to maintain control and finished that set. Niles controlled the third set and finished strong with a 10 point win to sweep the second round. Niles is now 38-8-4 and will return to South Haven tomorrow night to take on Buchanan in the District Championship.
